Shoring Installation to Begin

ComEd has completed all of their work and has moved out of the way for the next step.  While this take a little longer than scheduled,  the good news is at the same time, they removed some older equipment and upgraded the service to everyone on the block. So are able to continue towards our goal of leaving the alley in better shape than when we started.
Other improvements have included relocating the storm sewer, Comcast and Frontier all within the alley.
Starting Monday, August 12 at 7:00 AM a contractor will begin installing shoring in the alley.  This is long pieces of corrugated metal that will hold the surrounding alley in place as they excavate the alley for the new basement.  The shoring company has informed us that there will be no pounding, but vibrating and it will be very loud.  Anyone in the immediate vicinity outside will need ear plugs.  They are expecting 4-5 days of this work from 7 AM – 3 PM each day.  They will be utilizing the entire alley entry from 1st street starting at 6 AM each day.  So a reminder there can’t be any parking there.
Out of an abundance of caution we would recommend surrounding neighbors along the alley remove any items from walls or shelves that could potentially move or fall from vibration.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please let us know.  Thank you.
