Remembering Carrie Brantley

The Egyptian Theatre family is saddened by the recent passing of former Executive Director, Carrie Brantley. A dedicated supporter of the arts, Carrie first became involved with the Theatre as a volunteer before stepping into the role of Executive Director from 1998 to 2006. Her leadership and passion for the arts shone brightly, all while she maintained her full-time career as a nurse—a true testament to her commitment to serving her community.

Carrie’s impact reached beyond the walls of the Theatre, touching the lives of countless volunteers, patrons, and performers. Current Executive Director Alex Nerad, who was first hired by Carrie in 2003 as a young NIU student to assist with technical operations, reflects on her influence:

“I will forever be grateful to Carrie for taking a chance on me. Her willingness to hire an eager college student helped set me on the path that led me to where I am today. Her dedication to the Egyptian Theatre and the arts community will not be forgotten.”

On behalf of the Egyptian Theatre staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, and the many lives she positively impacted, we thank Carrie Brantley for her years of service and dedication. Her passion for the arts and her kindness will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to live on in the Theatre she helped shape.
