We’re excited to share that this year’s Live Lunch Music Series at the DeKalb Farmers’ Market has received a special boost—thanks to a generous grant from Northern Illinois University’s NNGO 301: Philanthropy and Fundraising class!
Each spring, students in this unique class study the impact of philanthropy in real time by awarding actual grants to local nonprofits. We were honored to be selected as one of the recipients this year. This funding is helping us continue to bring free, live music to the heart of downtown DeKalb throughout the summer.
A big thank-you goes out to Erin, our team member who led the grant application process, and to the class for believing in the power of arts and culture to build community. We had a great time presenting to the students earlier this year and sharing how Live Lunch connects local musicians, small businesses, and our vibrant downtown district.
With this grant support, we were able to expand our reach and amplify our marketing efforts—ensuring even more people get to enjoy lunch and live tunes on a sunny Thursday afternoon.
Catch us every Thursday at the DeKalb Farmers’ Market for local talent, local flavor, and a whole lot of fun—all made possible in part by the next generation of philanthropic leaders at NIU!
