On truTV’s Competition Series Fake Off
To Win $100,000 and “America’s Best Fakers” Title
DeKalb, IL – National winner of TruTV’s competition series Fake Off and semi-finalist of America’s Got Talent, Lightwire Theater will be at the historic Egyptian Theatre in downtown DeKalb Saturday evening. Presented by: the Egyptian Theatre and The Daily Chronicle. On December 15, 2014, New Orleans based Lightwire Theater performed in the series finale of truTV’s new competition series, Fake Off against three other teams for the grand prize of $100,000. At the top of the leaderboard throughout the competition, when Lightwire Theater’s 1970’s decade challenge was revealed, “We were excited,” said Eleanor Carney, Creator and Executive Director of Lightwire Theater, “we knew this would be a great opportunity to showcase our brand of magic and great music during that decade.”
Lightwire Theater’s “Studio 54” interpretation received a perfect score from all three judges. During the reviews on their final performance, Harry Shum, Jr. declared, “it was an explosive, insane performance” with TLC’s Chilli adding, “You nailed the 70’s…the things you guys can do with el wire is just amazing.” The weigh in from the studio audience revealed another perfect score of 10 securing the top spot, cash prize and the title of “America’s Best Fakers.” Their initial reaction was one of shock and amazement, “It could have gone either way,” said Ian Carney, Creator, Artistic Director and Choreographer “we are thrilled and honored to be among the extremely talented performance artists featured in truTV’s Fake Off. This competition gave us the opportunity to expand beyond our creative comfort zone and push our physicals limits.”
Lightwire Theater will be at the historic Egyptian Theatre in downtown DeKalb this Saturday, December 20 at 7:30 PM. They will be performing “A Very Electric Christmas”. Follow the story of a young bird, named Max and his family, as they begin their journey south for the winter. When Max gets blown off course and ends up at the North Pole…his adventure begins! Dancing toy soldiers, caroling worms and performing poinsettias, light up the stage in Lightwire Theater’s A Very Electric Christmas. Audiences of all ages will treasure this magical and captivating tale of family, friendship and hope set to timeless holiday hits, including Nat King Cole, Mariah Carey and Tchaikovsky. Lightwire Theater is internationally recognized for their electroluminescent artistry, poignant story telling and performs in complete darkness.
