Egyptian gives back to local music programs

Egyptian Theatre donates Jazz at the Egyptian proceeds to local music programs

The Egyptian Theatre hosted their fourth annual Jazz at the Egyptian event this past January, featuring performances by the DeKalb and Sycamore high school jazz ensembles, the Northern Illinois University Jazz Orchestra and Jazz in Progress.

With attendance at this event more than doubling from its inception year, the Egyptian Theatre was able to donate $750 a piece to the music programs at DeKalb High School, Sycamore High School and the Northern Illinois University Jazz Orchestra. This year’s donations bring the four year total to over $6000 in support of these local music programs!

“We are really happy that this event continues to grow year after year” Alex Nerad, Executive Director at the Egyptian Theatre stated. “As a non-profit organization, we are continually looking for ways to not only inspire our youth, but also fiscally support these future artists right here in DeKalb County.”

The Egyptian Theatre located at 135 N. 2nd Street in Downtown DeKalb, IL is owned and operated by Preservation of Egyptian Theatre, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Annual support provided by First National Bank, Northwestern Medicine, Shaw Media, and Tapa La Luna.
