Backstage at the Egyptian: We welcome NIU Intern Kevin Ray
My name is Kevin Ray and I am a junior at Northern Illinois University. I am the new intern for the Egyptian Theatre this spring and I am more than looking forward to working here and meeting all of you. I am a Political Science Major with an emphasis in International Relations. I am also a minor in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations.
I plan on in the future working for the State Department, Homeland Security, or a US embassy somewhere in the world. My biggest goals with these jobs is to make the biggest difference possible with whatever position I will have.
I have worked with a nonprofit before. Every summer I work at my local YMCA as a camp counselor where I plan daily events, and field trips with my director of operations. When I have free time I enjoy working out or watching movies with friends and family. The Mummy is one of my all-time favorite movies, and my favorite Egyptian god is Ra. I am very open to trying new things and going outside my comfort zone if need be.
I am very much looking forward to getting started with this internship. I know it will bring new challenges, and experiences that I know will make me a better worker, and a better person. I have ushered plays for my High School, but I have never worked in a theater so I am looking forward to seeing how everything works.
Once again I just want to say how very excited I am to meet all of you, learning more about the theater, and to get this whole new experience started.
