Hi everyone! My name is AJ Evon, I am a senior at Northern Illinois University, and I am elated to be working with the Egyptian this summer.
After receiving my associate’s in Business Administration from Highland Community College last year, I moved to DeKalb to continue working toward my bachelor’s in Nonprofit and NGO Studies with a grant writing certificate. Once I graduate in the spring, I plan to pursue a master’s in Communications.
Something I particularly appreciate about the Egyptian is the community involvement. Engaging with nonprofit organizations by volunteering for events is what initially sparked my interest in nonprofit studies, so I am grateful to be in a location where we have plenty of opportunities to get involved with local events and grow deeper connections with community members. I am especially excited to be working with a theatre, as I have previously enjoyed working in various roles both on and offstage throughout community college and high school.
When not involved in theatre, you can find me competing on the NIU Forensics (Speech and Debate) Team, working for the Huskie Academic Success Center, and creating new artwork and jewelry. I enjoy vending at local art events when I can, so make sure to stop by and say hello!
