I am a senior at Northern Illinois University graduating in May 2016. I am a Community Leadership and Civic Engagement major through the department of Nongovernmental Organizational Leadership and Development. I also have a minor in Communications. I am originally from Oswego, IL but am living in DeKalb currently. When I graduate in May I am not sure what I will be doing, but wish to find a job in the nonprofit sector in hopes of making a difference.
On campus, I recently became involved with the Community Leadership and Civic Engagement student association that brings together like-minded students in the same major as well as abroad. In the past, I have been involved with the Residence Hall Association where I sat on a Hall Council Board for two years, first as Vice President and then as President. Off campus, I work for the Coach Factory store.
I have been involved in theatre myself in the past. During both Junior High School as well as High School, I was involved in plays and musicals. Throughout my four years at Oswego High School, I was involved both on and off stage. I was heavily involved in the House Crew which, means that I was responsible for ushering people to their seat, but also meant that I would help with the sales of concessions, tickets, etc. My time spent as a member of many shows has instilled in me a sense of passion for the arts.
Currently, I am in an Introduction to Theatre course at NIU. Already I can see that this class will be beneficial to the work I am doing at the Egyptian Theatre. This semester, I am interning with the Egyptian Theatre and am very excited about the opportunity. My past involvement with the Egyptian Theatre has been through my attendance at the annual Rocky Horror Picture Show movie nights. I am excited to finally be able to take part in lending a hand. Throughout the next few months, I am eager to learn new things and to tackle any obstacles that I may face.
