Hi! I am Ben Irick. I am a senior at Illinois State University, and I’ll be graduating in spring of 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Technology, with a focus on Sound Design. My goal, after I graduate, is to become a sound engineer. My interest in the field started in middle school when a friend of mine introduced me to my first digital audio workstation. My interest only grew as I discovered many practical applications for the software.
Working with the Egyptian Theatre is a great opportunity for me to gain experience with live sound and all sorts of theatre technician activities. Applying what I learn at the Egyptian Theatre will go a long way in my future of working with digital audio and everything that comes with it.
As a musically minded person, theater experience is right up my alley. I started getting involved in Drumline in high school and I’ve been a member of the ISU Drumline for three years, going on four!
I’ve lived in Dekalb for as long as I can remember, and the Egyptian Theatre has been special to me and my family for many years. Getting to help with operating the theater equipment is an honor! I’m excited to be making a difference in the theatre after all these years of enjoying performances as an audience member.
Thanks,
Ben
