Backstage at the Egyptian: Technical Director Alejandro Treccani

Hello, I am Alejandro Treccani. I am the technical director for the Egyptian Theatre. I have been an active technical director and theatre technician in the Chicagoland area since 2013 and am excited to put my experience to use presenting quality performances for the people of the DeKalb area.

My background in theatre began in my high school performing arts program that I participated in all four years of my time there. I then received my BFA in technical design from Western Michigan University in 2017 before attending DeKalb’s own Northern Illinois University and receiving my MFA in technical direction in 2021. It is my hope to apply my education in such a way that allows the Egyptian to continuously strive for its mission to be a community centered artistic space, and to give back to a community that has given so much to us.

I believe that theatre belongs to everyone, and a strong artistic base strengthens and enriches a community in ways we can’t imagine. It’s my goal to prove these ideas true during my time here at the Egyptian Theatre.
