Backstage at the Egyptian: Miranda Cordes of Dimensions Dance Academy

Interview with Miranda Cordes, owner of Dimensions Dance Academy. Interview conducted by Erin Cronin.

ERIN: How did you get started dancing?

MIRANDA: I first started dancing when I was 8 years old at Debbie’s Dance Dimensions. That is how it all began!  Miss Debbie retired in 2013 and I took over the studio which is now Dimensions Dance Academy.

E: What was your first performance with Dimensions Dance Academy?

M: Our first performance under my directorship was “Best of Broadway” where we did excerpts from some of my favorite musicals.

E: Why do you think it is important that young dancers experience performing in a theater such as the Egyptian Theatre?

M: I have so many fantastic memories of the Egyptian Theatre spanning over decades! I have performed on it’s stage both as a child and as an adult, as well as directed many productions there.  I love being able to share those same experiences with a new generation of dancers. The feeling of performing in a true theatre with so much history is irreplaceable. We are so lucky to have a theatre like the Egyptian in our community.

E: What future shows are you and the other dancers looking forward to performing?

M: We just held auditions for our next production which will be The Little Mermaid, taking place at the Egyptian Theatre in June.  In 2023 we plan on doing the ballet Coppelia and then debuting a brand new production of Beauty and the Beast!
