Backstage at the Egyptian: Marty Scott of Liverpool Legends

Few bands have left a mark on music quite like The Beatles—and Liverpool Legends brings that legacy to life on stage with remarkable authenticity and energy. Created with the support of George Harrison’s sister, Louise Harrison, the show goes beyond a typical tribute, capturing the spirit, sound, and story of one of the most influential bands of all time. Ahead of their performance at the Egyptian Theatre, Egyptian Theatre Marketing Intern Myah Mackey connected with Marty Scott, who portrays George Harrison, to talk about carrying the band’s legacy, what sets Liverpool Legends apart, and what DeKalb audiences can expect from this unforgettable musical journey.

MYAH: Liverpool Legends was created with the support of Louise Harrison — how has that connection influenced the band’s mission and authenticity over the years?
MARTY:
Louise Harrison didn’t just help create Liverpool Legends, she shaped the heart of what we do. She shared personal stories and insight into The Beatles that most people never hear, and that gave us a responsibility to get it right. From the beginning, the goal has been to honor the music, the spirit, and the story of The Beatles in a way that feels real. That connection keeps us grounded in authenticity every time we step on stage.

MYAH: As an original member still performing, what has it been like carrying the band’s legacy forward?
MARTY:
It’s something I don’t take lightly. This isn’t just a show, it’s something we’ve built over years of touring, refining, and connecting with audiences all over the world. Being part of it from the start means I’ve seen how much it means to people. Carrying that forward is about staying true to what made it special in the first place while continuing to raise the level of the show every year.

MYAH: What do you think sets Liverpool Legends apart from other tribute bands?
MARTY:
For us, it’s about the full experience. We focus on bringing the sound, look, and energy of The Beatles to life on stage in a way that feels authentic from the first note to the last. The connection to Louise Harrison adds a deeper layer, but it’s really the attention to detail in the music, the instruments, and the performance that audiences respond to. It’s not just about playing the songs, it’s about recreating the feeling of seeing The Beatles live.

MYAH: After performing this music for so long, how do you keep the energy and excitement fresh for both yourselves and your audience?
MARTY:
The music itself does a lot of that work. These songs have a timeless energy, and every audience brings something different. No two shows feel the same. We are always pushing ourselves to make it tighter, more dynamic, and more engaging. When you see the reaction from the crowd, people singing along, smiling, sometimes even getting emotional, that keeps it fresh every night.

MYAH: What can audiences in DeKalb expect when Liverpool Legends take the stage at the Egyptian Theatre?
MARTY:
They can expect a high energy show that takes them through the different eras of The Beatles, from the early days to the later albums, all performed live on stage. It is designed to feel like a journey through the music and the moments that made The Beatles so special. Whether you grew up with this music or are hearing it live for the first time, it is a night that brings it all to life.
