As my time as a marketing intern at the Egyptian Theatre wraps up, I can honestly say this experience pushed me in ways I didn’t expect. Coming in, I thought I’d just be helping promote events, but I learned quickly that there’s a lot more behind the scenes. Through working on the “Backstage at the Egyptian” blog series, I got to research performers, build interview questions, and contribute to content that actually got published. Seeing my work out there and knowing it played a role in bringing people into the theatre was a great feeling.
One thing I really took away from this experience is that marketing in a nonprofit isn’t just about promotion but it’s about connection. It’s about telling stories in a way that makes people want to be part of something. That’s something I’ll carry with me moving forward. I also built skills in communication, writing, and research, and grew more confident in my ability to contribute in a professional space.
Overall, I’m grateful for the opportunity and everything I learned. The Egyptian Theatre is more than just a venue. It’s a space that brings people together and I’m glad I got to be a part of that!
