Backstage at the Egyptian: Gabriel Bueno Spring 2020 Intern

Hello, my name is Gabriel Bueno and I am the Egyptian Theatre Intern for this spring.

I am a senior at Northern Illinois University and am majoring in Political Science and minoring in Nonprofit and NGO studies and Sociology. I would like to make the world a better place and understand various sectors in life to help people in need. I am extremely excited about this internship opportunity this semester.

Throughout high school I always enjoyed reading about the plays Macbeth and Hamlet. The Egyptian Theater architecture stands out significantly in the DeKalb landscape making it a unique experience. This is my first internship and am grateful it could be with such a historic building and I am excited to gain experience and insight about a nonprofit organization. I want to be able to spread the word about the Egyptian Theatre this semester. Theater should be accessible to all people and that is something I wish to promote to the community. Some form of performing arts should be accessible to all communities. 

I would like to thank The Center for Nonprofit and NGO studies at NIU for selecting me to participate in the DCNP Internship Program. I would also like to thank everyone who made it possible for me to receive this position. I am excited to be able to become closer with the staff and various volunteers and bettering the Egyptian Theatre.
