Hi! My name is Sammie Musielak and I am the newest addition to the Egyptian Theatre team. I am a sophomore at Northern Illinois University studying Nonprofit/NGO studies with a minor in Sociology. After I graduate, I want to make a difference in the lives of animals that need it most. In my freetime I enjoy watching Law and Order: SVU, and playing with my dog.
This semester, my main plans for this internship involve exploring promotion and operations of a nonprofit organization and the many opportunities that go along with it. My main projects for this internship include updating the blog and organizing and executing an effective Give DeKalb County fundraising campaign with pieces that stress the importance of art in communities, as well as organizing an effective Give DeKalb County campaign to help raise money that will go back into the communities the Egyptian Theatre serve.
Thank you to everyone in the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership and the faculty and staff in the Nonprofit and NGO Studies program at NIU who supported me and allowed me to have this wonderful opportunity. I am looking forward to what the Egyptian Theatre can teach me for my future positions within the sector and to the ways I can make a positive difference in people’s lives.
