Backstage at the Egyptian: We Welcome NIU Intern Jesse Moore

The historic Egyptian Theatre is a proud member of and active participant in our wider DeKalb community. One aspect of this participation is through our involvement in the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership program offered through the DeKalb County Community Foundation. Through this program, we were selected as an organization to host an intern from our local university.

Jesse Moore is The Egyptian Theatre’s new marketing intern. Jesse is an Illinois native from Gurnee who is now an undergraduate senior at Northern Illinois University. He is studying Nonprofit and NGO Studies which is a relatively new major offered through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Jesse has been academically successful at NIU, making the Dean’s List every semester of attendance. Jesse is a non-traditional student having first completed his Associate of Arts degree at the College of Lake County where he had similarly high academic success.

Jesse is very excited to begin working for DeKalb’s preeminent entertainment institution. Jesse is most excited about being on the provision end of nonprofit work. He was a boyscout in Waukegan in his youth and then received the prestigious Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship from the Western Golf Association after caddying at Merit Club in Libertyville. His life has been greatly affected by the services that nonprofit organizations supply, and he cannot wait to share his appreciation with the historic Egyptian Theatre and her patrons, volunteers, and supporters.

Jesse will have a few responsibilities for us this semester. Jesse will be trained as a volunteer for the theatre. He will be attending Egyptian Theatre programming this semester, so make sure to say hi if and when you see him! Jesse will also be conducting interviews and posting to our blog, so stop in and check out what’s new! Jesse is responsible for office hours every week and so will be very plugged into the organization. Some perks that Jesse will receive are payment for services rendered, access to strategic-planning materials, and working directly with Executive Director Alex Nerad. We all look forward to Jesse being the next success story to start here, at the historic Egyptian Theatre.
