Egyptian Theatre Live Lunch Music Series

The Egyptian Theatre is proud to present for the second summer; the Live Lunch Music Series. The DeKalb Farmers Market takes place every Thursday during the summer in the Van Buer Plaza (directly across the street from the Egyptian Theatre). The DeKalb Farmers market runs from June 3 thru September 23 from 12:00pm-6:00pm every Thursday.
Bring a lawn chair, a sack lunch, or purchase a box lunch from one of the many great downtown restaurants. Free music will be in the plaza from noon - 1:30pm each Thursday. In the event of inclement weather the concert for that day will be moved inside the lobby of the Egyptian Theatre.
Bring your family, neighbors, or co-workers and enjoy some music outside in the Farmers Market!
This series is provided free of charge as a gift to the community from the Egyptian Theatre. Donations at each concert will be gladly accepted to help support the ongoing operations of the theatre.
Some artists will have CD's and other merchandise available for purchase. All of these musicians/groups have volunteered their time and talent for the Egyptian Theatre for this music series. Support of these musicians/groups is also appreciated.

Thursday, June 10 - Barb City Stompers
Members of the Band have been playing jazz all around the country for the past 30 years. The group plays regularly at the House Cafe and has done so for the past 4 years. Musicians include:
John Skillman - Clarinet/Leader, Roy - Trombone, Larry Rutan - Rhythm Guitar, Roger Hintsche - Bass and Guitar, Aaron - Drums, and Diana Skillman - Vocals. Copies of the groups new CD will be available for purchase.
Thursday, June 17 - Greg Boerner
Greg Boerner ("Burner") is a Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter originally from Augusta, Georgia now living in Aurora, IL. His music is an original blend of blues, folk, country, roots rock n' roll and all that comes between--Southern style. His World So Blue cd was voted "top 25 albums of 2006" by Rootstime magazine. He will be performing songs from his three cds as well as his favorites from Tom Waits, Ray Charles and Bob Dylan. www.gregboerner.com
Thursday, June 24 - Children's Community Theatre
Children's Community Theatre will present a preview of their show "Hairspray" which will be performed at NIU June 25-27 as part of CCT's Summer Imagination Camp.
Following CCT will be a performance by the Folkloric Dance Group
Thursday, July 1 - Steve Deiss and Friends
A recently formed band that's been rocking audiences and getting rave reviews. Front man, Deiss has assembled local musicians from former bands to adding new musicians. Rotating band members keep the music fresh and alive. Capturing the spirit of original songs, with a few sweet cover tunes. The current lineup for Steve Deiss and friends are; Nadja Burton (Tight on drums), Alex Stys (A rhythm machine on bass), Paco, a.k.a. "Notorious" Simon (shredding guitar like cheese through a grater) and Steve Deiss (12 string freight train).
Thursday, July 8 - Will Mariani Project
This group has been performing jazz and funk in the DeKalb area for the last year and a half. All four of them are alumni of the DeKalb High School Music Program, and two have continued on to study music in college. Aquatic Ape looks forward to performing many more places throughout the summer.
Thursday, July 15 - James Miller and Friends
Thursday, July 22 - Inkapirka (**Special Concert** - performing 12:00pm-6:00pm)
The name of the group is Inkapirka and consists of two members from South America. The music played is instrumental using a variety of flutes and pan flutes along with background music. The music is soft and easy listening. It creates a type of enchanting atmosphere. For the last 7 years in particular, the music has been well received at garden shows in various cities in Montana; Cleveland, Ohio; Wichita, Kansas; Chicago, Illinois; and Kansas City, Missouri. The group is well known throughout the Midwest. They have performed for the Indianapolis State Fair for the past 17 years and will be returning this August for the 18th year.
Thursday, July 29 - John Campen and Friends
Brother and sister John Campen (baritone) and Susan Campen Preuter (mezzo soprano) will be joined by vocalists Malia Ropp (soprano) and Pedro Barbosa (tenor) as they cover a wide selection of familiar songs from the opera and musical theater repertoire.
Thursday, August 5 - Dave Balika & Friends
The group came about when Dave invited some friends to join him for music and fun as he played his hammered dulcimer. Lynn Cook joins in on flute, penny whistle and wooden flute. Denny Vaupel backs it up on sting bass, and other friends might come along for the fun as they play Irish tunes, Bluegrass and folk tunes.
Thursday, August 12- The Conley Trio
The Conley Trio (Jen, Ellen & Nelle Conley) have been performing together for a decade. Jen, a singer/songwriter and performer is also the hospice music therapist at DeKalb County Hospice. Ellen will be majoring in harp performance at NIU this fall and frequently performs in local theater (Tracy Turnblad in the CCT performance of “Hairspray”). Nelle, a freshman at DeKalb High School is involved in jazz and also local theater (Belle in the Dreamers production of “Beauty and the Beast”). The Trio has appeared in the Gavin Wilson Show, Gurler Folk Festivals and at numerous community events. This mother/daughters trio features tight vocal harmonies as well as guitar, harp, violin and mandolin. Among other songs they will be performing a number of selections from the new hit show, “Glee.”
